About Me
Hello!
My name is Sarah, and I'm a lifelong learner. I grew up in a small, country farm town in Dinuba, California. I love to travel (as you can see from the photos below), and I even had the privilege of studying abroad at Cambridge University during my undergraduate degree from UC Irvine! I have lived in various places including Irvine, Los Angeles, and San Luis Obispo County where I have been a substitute teacher in different school districts. I have a dog named Scout--and yes, I did name her after the novel To Kill A Mockingbird.
As a double- major graduate in English and Film & Media Studies, I have a passion for reading and consuming inspiring stories. While finishing my Master's degree in English literature, I had the privilege to teach an Entry English course in Composition and Rhetoric to a diverse range of students; that year I received the graduate student teaching award for Excellence in Teaching upon completion of the MA program.
While living in Los Angeles, I also worked as a 2nd AD (Assistant Director) for various commercials, independent films, and TV shows--some of which you can view on Netflix! All of these experiences have shown me the importance of hard work, dedication, and passion in one's daily life. However, it was after subbing in various K-12th-grade classrooms during breaks between film production shoots that I fell in love with teaching English courses. I am currently a high school English teacher at the central coast.
Being able to pursue a career in which I have the potential to make an impact on someone's life daily is inspiring, exciting & a worthwhile challenge. I can't wait to see where life takes me next!
